Ari (Rice) Puttum Kadala

How to make the Ari (Rice) Puttu:

Sprinkle little water on the rice flour and mix it well so that it does not forms lumps. One should make sure that the powder gets wet without lumps being formed. Sprinkle some salt to taste and keep it aside.

Grate coconut and keep it aside too.

To the puttu maker, pour some of the flour and in between put some grated coconut and put in some more flour. Steam it till the steam comes out of the top of the puttu kutti (roughly it takes 5-10minutes). With the help of some spatula/long stick, push the puttu from one end of the puttu kutti. The puttu comes out from the other open end.

Mango rice

How to make mango rice mix:

The mango story contines….
I grated the mangoes into small pieces and cooked it with little water, with 1 tbsp of salt, 1 tbsp of chilly powder and turmeric powder. When it is done, I seasoned it by heating 1 tbsp oil in a kadai, add 1 tbsp mustard seed, 1 tbsp of urudh seeds, 1 tbsp of kadala paruppu, some jeerakham, 1 - 2 red dry chillies, 1-2 green chillies, 1 handful of groundnut, and lots of curry leaves.

Mix the above prepared mix to the rice and serve it with pappad/pickle.

Mango sweet pachadi

The last post I was rattling about the mangoes. There was whole bunch of mangoes left out still. Thought of making something sweet out of mangoes.

I sliced the mangoes into small pieces and cooked it with little water, with 1 tbsp of salt and turmeric powder.
When it is done, I mashed it thoroughly with a nice spatula till it became a uniform paste. Then added 1 tbsp of ghee and sugar to it and mixed it very well under the burner. Then added some cashenuts to it.

Quick mango pickles

Mango pickle
One of my friend passed on many mangoes when they felled down a whole tree.
I was wondering what should I prepare with so many mangoes.

I sliced the mangoes into small pieces and cooked it with little water, with 1 tbsp of salt and turmeric powder.

When it is done, I seasoned it by heating 1 tbsp oil in a kadai, add 1 tbsp mustard seed, some jeerakham, 1 - 2 green chillies, 1 pinch of chilly powder and lots of curry leaves. Sim the burner so that these seeds do not get charred.
